Why You Need a Contact Lens Prescription Every Year

Your eyes can change a lot in a year, and you might not notice it, but your vision or comfort with lenses could be different. That's why you need a new contact lens prescription every year. It helps your eye doctor check how your lenses are working, and the exam also keeps your eyes healthy.

The doctor checks your vision and looks for signs of dry eyes or infection. If needed, they can suggest better lenses. The law also says you must have a valid prescription to order contact lenses. This keeps you safe and helps you see clearly.

An annual visit may seem small, but it makes a big difference; you get better vision, more comfort, and fewer problems with your lenses.

What Happens at a Contact Lens Prescription Visit

A contact lens exam is different from a regular eye check. It looks at how lenses fit your eyes and how well you see with them.

Here's what to expect:

  • The doctor measures your cornea (the front part of your eye)
  • They check if your eyes can handle wearing lenses
  • You talk about your daily routine and needs
  • You try on test lenses to see how they feel
  • The doctor shows you how to put in and take out your lenses

This exam helps make sure your lenses are safe and comfortable. The doctor may ask you to come back in a few days. That way, they can see how your eyes are doing.

Picking the Right Contact Lens Prescription for Your Life

Everyone has a different lifestyle, so your contact lenses should match your daily activities. Some lenses are better for sports, some for dry eyes, and others help kids who can't see far.

Take a look at your choices:

  • Soft lenses feel comfortable and are easy to use
  • RGP lenses are firm and give super-clear vision
  • Scleral lenses help people with eye problems or dry eyes
  • Ortho-K lenses shape your eyes while you sleep
  • MiSight lenses help slow down blurry distance vision in kids

Your eye doctor helps you choose the best lens for your eyes and daily routine. The goal is to see clearly and feel good all day.

Special Contact Lenses for Tricky Vision Problems

Some people need more than regular contact lenses. If your cornea has an odd shape or you've had eye surgery, you might need a different kind of lens. These special lenses help you see better and feel more comfortable.

Scleral lenses are large and rest gently on your eye. They work well for dry eyes, scars, or keratoconus, protect your eyes, and feel comfortable all day. RGP lenses are smaller and last longer; they give very sharp vision. Ortho-K lenses are worn at night; they gently shape your eyes while you sleep.

These help people who can't wear regular lenses. Your eye doctor can find out which one works best for you.

How Ortho-K Lenses Give You Clear Vision Without Glasses

You wear them while you sleep; they gently reshape your cornea at night. In the morning, you take them out and see them all day. No glasses, no daytime lenses.

These lenses are great for people who don't want surgery. Athletes love them, and kids who want to play without glasses adore them. They also help slow down nearsightedness in children.

Here's why Ortho-K is a great choice:

  • You get clear vision all day without glasses
  • They are safe for kids and adults
  • They help stop nearsightedness from getting worse
  • They are perfect for active people or dusty jobs

You wear them every night to keep your vision clear; it's a fun and easy way to see better.

Helping Kids With Myopia Using Contact Lenses

Many kids today have myopia, or blurry distance vision, which often worsens yearly. MiSight 1 Day lenses are made just for kids; they help slow down myopia and are easy to wear.

Kids wear a new pair each morning and toss them at night; no cleaning is needed. The lenses gently change how light hits the eye, helping slow down eye growth and preventing vision from worsening.

These lenses are safe and approved for kids ages 8 to 12. They are soft, comfy, and super simple to use. If your child squints, holds books too close, or can't see far away, it may be time for an eye check.

A contact lens prescription for MiSight can help. It gives kids a clear vision and protects their eyes for the future.
